Dari Adonan Ke Doa : Telaah Tradisi Kue Plirit Pada Resepsi Pernikahan Masyarakat Desa Gerongan Dalam Perspektif Sosiologi Hukum Islam

Abstrak

Wedding traditions in Indonesia are not only part of customary practices but also a means of passing on social, cultural, and religious values to the next generation. The community of Curah Lele Hamlet, Gerongan Village, Maron Subdistrict, Probolinggo Regency, still preserves a tradition of serving plirit cakes at wedding receptions. The younger generation lacks an understanding of the philosophical significance of this tradition, viewing it merely as a dish served at wedding celebrations. The purpose of this study is to analyze the symbolic meaning embedded in the plirit cake tradition using symbolic interactionism theory. Additionally, this study examines how the plirit cake is positioned within the context of Islamic legal sociology from the perspective of “urf.” A narrative-based qualitative approach was employed in this study, collecting data through interviews with community leaders and a review of relevant literature. The results indicate that each component of the plirit cake contains symbols and moral messages regarding married life. For example, the texture of the glutinous rice symbolizes marital harmony; sugar and salt represent dynamics; the colorful appearance signifies diversity; and the wavy shape indicates the ups and downs of married life. This tradition also helps disseminate Islamic values through cultural symbols present in society. From the perspective of Islamic legal sociology, these meanings are derived through social interaction
